Now that it’s officially dipped under 40 degrees in Louisiana, I’m finally excited about cold weather – mostly because it means scooping up some new winter wardrobe essentials! (I’ve even gotten SO enthusiastic that I started buying Jordan clothes too, haha.) Every winter wardrobe needs 5 must-have outfit pieces, and I’ve partnered up with Nordstrom to share them in today’s post.
1. Number one on my list of winter outfit essentials – oversized knit sweaters and lots of them! During the winter months I tend to live in chunky sweaters that I can throw on over leggings or jeans. Nordstrom offers such a huge range of sweaters that hit all price points and fits.
2. Of course, over-the-knee boots are a winter must-have! For years, I’ve been buying OTK boots that were on the more affordable price level, and I finally splurged on this pair of Stuart Weitzman Lowland boots. I haven’t regretted this purchase since – the quality in terms of wrinkling and slouching is unmatched!

The first Christmas gift that Jordan ever bought me was my first Burberry scarf. I had ALWAYS wanted one, and I may have done some hint-dropping here and there to get it… Little did I know that scarf from nearly 10 years ago – and the same scarf in today’s post – is still going strong! While wearing it recently, I thought to about how it’s nearly been a decade since he bought it and what a great investment piece it turned into. How many scarves can you say that you own and still wear after 10 years?!
It gave me the idea for today’s post with Nordstrom where I’m sharing some of my favorite winter investment pieces that are classics every year! I like to think that I’ve been pretty savvy when it comes to investment pieces and deciding on the ones with “staying power” rather than the ones that are quick trends. My Burberry scarf is by FAR one of the best winter investment pieces in my wardrobe.
When it comes to making big purchases like a designer item, you want to purchase from a retailer you trust. Plus, I am a big fan of the Nordstrom shipping and return policy as well. Want to see what else is on my list? Below are a few of the designer items that I’ve invested in and have not regretted – and a few that I currently have on my list!
Someone invite me to your formal NYE party or winter wedding because I’m currently looking for somewhere to wear this winter formal dress STAT. A few weeks ago in New Orleans, I had the opportunity to play dress up in the most AMAZING formal gown by Alyce Paris. It literally felt like I was getting a chance at a second set of bridal portraits you guys. From the beaded neckline to the swooping train, and hello, what about the waist-cinching gold belt? This dress has me living my very own beauty pageant, mardi gras princess dreams!
We kept the hair classic with old Hollywood inspired curls. Simple jewelry pieces were added to complement the stunning beadwork across the neck. (You really don’t need much extra when wearing a dress this stunning!)
If you are looking for your next Mardi Gras dress, winter formal gown or black tie gala dress, be sure to check out Alyce Paris for more amazing dress inspiration. In addition, the site also offers intricately beaded cocktail dresses as well as perfect prom dress options!
Or just check them out if you want to feel like a princess for a day. 🙂

Just like you can change up your wardrobe with new a trend, updating your holiday traditions can be just as creative! I’ve teamed up with Express to share ways for you to try both this season! For example, one popular winter piece I’ve been seeing a lot of lately is the pleated skirt trend. I decided to wear this mini skirt version (also available in metallic) to a holiday luncheon this week with fellow creatives and content creators. Paired with a cozy sweater and OTK boots, this was the perfect, festive skirt to wear to our first holiday gathering. The Express pieces in today’s post make the perfect casual holiday outfit!
We met at a local restaurant and shared stories about our businesses and lessons we’ve learned this year. All of the laughs and conversation got me thinking about our different connections and how this one lunch could easily turn into a new holiday tradition! One of the things I miss most about working in a traditional office setting – especially this time of year – is the social connection. Our little holiday luncheon is the closest thing that I’ll have to attending my own office Christmas party this year. So, I’m hoping it’s a tradition that we can continue to have over the years to come!
What sort of tradition of your own could you start this year? Whether it’s gathering coworkers or friends for an impromptu lunch or happy hour, there are so many ways to bring your favorite people together this season!

Ever wonder what bloggers gift each other for Christmas? My blogger besties and I teamed up with Vince Camuto on a Secret Santa present exchange, and in the process, we created the ultimate fashionista gift buying guide! Kendall from Styled Snapshots was my Secret Santa, and she picked out the rose gold metallic heels in today’s post! You guyssss, I was literally so excited to share these with you as soon as I opened the box. Studs and rose gold – talk about Secret Santa goals! I immediately shared on Snapchat and Insta Stories because I couldn’t contain myself lol.
As you can imagine, they are the ultimate holiday party heel, but you can also wear them to dress up your denim. I knew that these metallic heels would look so chic with my favorite distressed boyfriend jeans and this new slouchy sweater. Pair them up with metallic accessories, and you’re set! See a few of my snaps from unwrapping my Vince Camuto gift as well as how I’m wearing them in today’s post!
I’ve also included a few more of my Vince Camuto favorites below because there are SO many great options on the site right now. I’m especially loving the backless loafer style and the sassy party bags too!
