While I was brainstorming Valentine’s Day date ideas for today’s post, I randomly got the idea to ask Jordan what he thinks. Because not only does he HATE Valentine’s Day, I knew he’d have some pretty interesting comments regarding traditional date night ideas in general. (insert eye roll emoji) See all five guy-approved Valentine’s Day date ideas in today’s full post!

“Do the Fancy Dinner Thing on a Different Night”
This is one that I totally agree with because Valentine’s Day is usually during the week – not really convenient for getting dressed to the nines and spending hours at dinner. Plus, most restaurants have set menus due to the high volume of patrons – making it quicker for them to serve you and get you out the door. Nothing like a noisy, rushed, over-priced meal… We typically set aside a different day to do a nice dinner out before Valentine’s Day.
“Staying In Is The New Going Out”
On actual Valentine’s Day, cooking a meal together at home is more personal and thoughtful anyway! You could even plan the menu together from apps to dessert. OR if neither one of you are handy in the kitchen, try a meal delivery service. I also like the idea of having your own wine tasting at home with each course. Ps. Turn off the tv, put down the phones and cut out the distractions.
“‘Agree To Do An Activity The Other Person Picks”
For the girls, it could be as simple as going to a sporting event or concert of his choice. Beer and pizza night or seeing a movie that he’s interested in. For him, it could be a spa day or mani/pedi session at your favorite salon. (They will enjoy this more than they admit.) Dessert tasting or shopping trip. I like this idea actually, and it will get you both to do things you wouldn’t ordinarily do together!
“Do Something Outdoors”
This is pretty broad, but there are so many things you can do outdoors to get out of the house on Valentine’s Day. Instead of battling crowded restaurants, take hike, pack a low key picnic, or watch the sunset. Or do all three in that order! Bonus points for outdoor concerts or movies.
“Pick a Netflix Show to Binge-Watch”
Break out the popcorn and snacks! A few of the shows that we’ve binge-watched that I actually enjoyed include Ozark, Friday Night Lights (all seasons), 24 (all seasons). We started watching Stranger Things, but Jordan was just not into it lol. We also started Narcos, but I wasn’t into that one… so definitely pick one that you both are going to look forward to!
