Living in Baton Rouge, it’s definitely an advantage to have the beach just a short road trip away. In college, Orange Beach, Alabama was one of our favorite spring break destinations, and I have so many fun memories there! Even now, I still frequent the Alabama beaches with friends during the summer. (I was also just there for Hangout Fest!) After my most recent trip with Hotel Indigo Orange Beach, an IHG hotel, I put together an Orange Beach travel guide filled with spots to eat, drink and hang out all within short distances from the hotel!

Where to Stay in Orange Beach
If you’re looking for a spot to stay in Orange Beach and don’t have a large group or need multiple bedrooms, a brand new Hotel Indigo just opened this summer! I was able to pop in and experience the hotel first-hand right after the grand opening. Being familiar with IHG hotels, I knew to expect an easy and comfortable stay. (We used the Hotel Indigo Baton Rouge as one of our hotel room blocks for our wedding because of the affordable rates and quality of service!)
I was so impressed with the size of our room and bathroom because counter space can be hard to come by! We also had a small desk and daybed for added space – and in my case spreading out ALL of my things. The hotel also offers a wide variety of sitting areas and meeting areas if you’re there to work which I did a little bit of too. Also worth mentioning, all Hotel Indigo locations are dog-friendly. I loved the little treat station downstairs by the check-in desk!
The Hotel Indigo is within close proximity to the public beach area, and there’s a shuttle service that can take you there and back if you call ahead. We picked up some snacks at the nearby Publix and had a little evening beach picnic!
Where to Eat in Orange Beach
Hotel Indigo – Why go out to eat when you have so many options right at your hotel! I think what I was most impressed with was – the amount of FOOD options. Not only is there a Southern Grind coffee shop complete with a full menu AND gelato bar directly connected to the hotel, but there’s food service in the hotel bar as well. There’s also a second outdoor bar in the terrace area.
The Gulf – You have to check out this outdoor seafront restaurant built in old shipping containers. We loved the ambiance – and the menu. I ordered the most delish tuna bowl! It’s just a short drive down from Hotel Indigo.
Shrimp Basket – When we used to come to Orange Beach in college, we always stopped at the Shrimp Basket! This is where we’d fill up on fried fish, shrimp, catfish or oysters before heading to Flora-Bama.
Louisiana Lagniappe – If you’re looking for dinner with a more formal setting, go to Louisiana Lagniappe. We’ve gone several times to celebrate birthdays while we’re in town.
Cobalt – This one has a great view of the bay because it’s right underneath the Perdido Bay bridge. Great outside bar for drinks and live entertainment on some nights.
Where To Go in Orange Beach
The Wharf Marina – Head to The Wharf for shopping and dining options + an amphitheater and live music entertainment.
Flora-Bama – You can’t think of Alabama beaches without thinking about the Flora-Bama. World famous with two stages of live music – grab a Bushwacker!
Live Bait – You can kinda do it all at Live Bait. There’s a full service menu, newly renovated tiki bar and live entertainment in the nightclub area.
The Cove – This was one of our spots in college and spring break – brings back memories!
Jellyfish – Looking for karaoke? We recently hit up Jellyfish for after-dinner drinks and – of course the entertainment.
Of course, there’s so much more than what’s listed here, but these are definitely my favorites. Would love to hear your suggestions on what to do next time I head to Orange Beach!
