While I’ve never been to Coachella, I always look forward to seeing the photos every year to get ideas for recreating my own festival inspired outfits. One key festival piece this year was the high-waisted denim skirt. I saw so many people wearing them over bodysuits and even swimsuits. People were pairing their high-waisted skirts with crop tops (and tops even smaller than that haha).
And although I bought a denim skirt last summer, it wasn’t quite the right fit. I wanted one that was truly high-waisted in a light wash and with a raw hem. (I’m pretty specific right?) That’s when I finally found the GRLFND skirt (fits true to size) that I was imagining in my head, and you’ll see it in today’s post!
I think a lot of people are a little cautious of reverting back to a trend that brings along flashbacks from high school and junior high, but you can easily wear this piece without looking too “out there.” In fact, you can update it with things you already have in your closet. For example, I paired mine with a billowy off-the-shoulder top and block heeled sandals from Sole Society. Classic neutral heels and a roomy tote make the high waisted skirt a more attainable festival trend for summer!
The espadrille wedge is one of spring and summer’s hottest shoe trends! But a lot of the most popular styles boast a pretty high wedged heel – which not everyone can wear. SO when I found these adorable Splendid wedge espadrillesunder $100, I knew I had to share them with you guys! The suede ankle straps tie in a bow either in the front of back of your leg, and it comes in both tan and gray.
I’ve been wearing them with my cropped white jeans and most recently with this slip dress also by Splendid. (It comes in 4 different colors!) Slip dresses are easy and versatile pieces to mix into your summer closet options. Throw it on with a belt or pair with a denim jacket for dinner. I chose to wear it with a printed neck scarf – these are popping up everywhere right now!
This dress would also be a great option to pack with you for the beach. Toss it in your beach or pool bag as a quick swimsuit coverup, and it literally takes up no space in the suitcase! Can you tell that I’m already trying to plan my return trip to 30A?
I’ve always loved “discovering” new brands and experimenting with different silhouettes and clothing styles. I get a rush when people ask me “where did you get that?” It’s also a bit of a thrill helping people discover their new favorite shopping destinations which is one of the reason why I started my blog! Finding the British clothing brand, Marks & Spencer, gave me one of those feelings after I took one look at their frilly and feminine spring dresses. I think you’ll understand why when you see the dreamy Marks and Spencer midi dress in today’s post!
By now you’re probably thinking “stripes and poms – so groundbreaking, Krystal.” BUT you haven’t seen this dress with the cutest striped bubble sleeves yet! The off-the-shoulder dress in today’s post can be worn with or without the belt making it a flattering pick for everyone. I packed it for St. Lucia recently and wore it on our very last dinner on our Sandals resort visit. The material is great for packing – it didn’t even require steaming after being stuck in a suitcase for almost a week!
Style Tip: It would be a great dress for Sunday brunch with sandals and a casual date night out with espadrille wedges or neutral mules. I’ll be reaching for this comfy style all spring and summer long!
And do I even need to elaborate on WHY you need a pair of pom sandals? I added a new color to my closet this season after I wore these pom sandals so much last spring! I like the more muted colors in the pair you’ll see below because they pair so well with denim – especially chambray – pieces!
