    Shop Your City Day Recap

Here are some of the photos from Saturday’s Shop Your City event. I was finally able to check out Andi’s Hazel and Florange location as we stopped by there first. Racks of vintage and Andi’s own designs sat in the most quaint and lovely corner of the room. Guests noshed on macaroons and sipped on champs. Julia of Gal Meets Glam was there to pick out her favorite items and greet shoppers. We chatted about my jealousy of her San Francisco layering weather and her recent vacay to Hawaii. Such a sweet girl with amazing style, so make sure to check her out.

Our next stop was Haute on Magazine Street to see Liz of Sequins and Stripes and Mackenzie of Design Darling where we ate more desserts got to sit down and pick these ladies’ brains. We discussed the special friendships they’ve made with other bloggers and how they normally handle in-store events in their respective cities. Super disappointed that we didn’t get to stay longer with these girls, but it was time for us to head to the next stop.

We also went by Hattie Sparks to check out the trunk show by Camilyn Beth who also showed her spring collection in NOLAFW the very next night, but more on that coming up soon!

    Avenue Rouge Runway Recap

A few snaps from the Avenue Rouge set where Jenn and I hosted the live coverage of the event.

Okay, so first of all – I have to say that I am not comfortable at all with seeing or hearing myself on video camera. I will probably never be able to bring myself to watch the two sets of video from Thursday night, but I just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who streamed the footage and watched the event live and even afterwards too. All your positive feedback helped my anxiety significantly…

It was a really positive learning experience in that I was forced out of my comfort zone (and had to improv without sounding like a fool). It’s an area where I’d definitely like to improve, and this was the perfect opportunity to help me start doing that. So thanks to 225 Magazine and InRegister for giving me that chance!

I also need to thank Abi Ferrin for the fantastic dress that I was wearing, Rigsby Frederick for my hair and Ashley Sievert Beauty for my makeup application. Lots of help went towards getting me camera ready, so even if I sounded terrible, I at least looked the part. 🙂

I haven’t been able to get my hands on any of the photos of the actual show yet, but if I can, I’ll be posting those later this week for you!

    Ashley Sievert Beauty Event Recap

If you missed out on yesterday’s beauty event with Ashley Sievert, here are a few snaps of all the makeup fun. Ashley booked consultations in foundation matching and demonstrated full makeup tutorials at Posh Boutique. I got to watch her work her magic on two clients, and the finished look was flawless on both!

Ashley just launched her brand new product line of foundation, concealer and powder – which I got a sample of yesterday and can’t wait to try out. The other products like blush, eyebrow pencils and lipwear are all tested and given the seal of approval by Ashley before she uses them and carries them to sell.

I get to finally have Ashley work her makeup magic on me next week for the Avenue Rouge Fashion Show! I’m super excited to share some before and after photos with you guys. Stay tuned for that coming up very soon too.

If you want to learn more about Ashley and her new makeup products, check out her Facebook page – Ashley Sievert – Makeup Artist!

    Creative Mixer Recap!

At the beginning of the summer (I know, late post…), Rebecca from Bitsy and Boo and I, hosted a summer mixer for creatives in our area. We had lots of sips and treats with a pool cabana backdrop. We have some gorgeous photos from the event and a delicious recipe (the guests’ favorite appetizer) that we hope will inspire some of your own events.

First, we picked our venue and color palette. A poolside patio was the perfect place to decorate with graphic, black stripes and punches of bright fuschia, yellow and blue blooms arranged by Angela from Angela Marie Events. She’s a pro with floral arrangements, you guys and has a keen eye for event design – often pulling out all the stops on her custom designed events.

Metallics like gold and silver were brought in via gorgeous lantern lighting by Truly Haute around the pool. These ladies specialize in event candle rentals. From votives and pillars to mason jars and mercury glass, if you’re looking for stunning candlelight setting, these girls have you covered.

Let’s get to the food and beverages! Guests were asked to bring a bottle of wine that best described his or her creative field or personality which served as an engaging conversation starter. Our menu that was created and executed by Rebecca included light bites, a signature dip and a sweet dessert, but the crowd favorite was her bacon tomato tartlet that stole the show. If you don’t trust me, try her recipe here:

    Bacon Tomato Tartlets

-1 (12 ounce) can flaky biscuits

-6 slices deli bacon, cooked, drained and crumbled

    -1 medium tomatos, chopped

    -3 ounces mozzarella cheese, grated

    -1/2 cup mayonnaise

    -1 teaspoon dried basil leaves

    -1 teaspoon dried thyme

    -3/4 teaspoon garlic salt

    -1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

Split the biscuits into 3 pieces (flaky biscuits pull apart easily into layers).

Press split biscuits into mini muffin tins. You will not sue entire can of biscuits.

Mix remaining ingredients together and fill each of the pastries with mixture.

Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.

These can be frozen and baked later. Makes 24 tartlets.

Finally, I have to thank the talented guys behind the lenses for capturing our night so beautifully. Big thanks to Brian Pavlich and Beau Moss for their amazing photography skills.
