Take two on these basics seen in yesterday’s post – an animal trimmed button-down and (faux) leather skirt. In the event of brisk weather, I’m always partial to covering my legs. I’m just seriously cold no matter where I go, so I love these tights from Darby’s. The feminine, lace trim plays off the edgy, asymmetrical leather. Because of the knee-high tights, the outfit really doesn’t need anything more – adding other pieces would be overload.
And I’m a repeat offender of the side tuck/front tuck as you probably know. When used the wrong way, it can look messy or frumpy, so be super selective if you try it. It works well on this crisp button-down because of the contrast of formal shirt to informal tuck. Sometimes, I’ll even do it with sweaters too. What do you think? To tuck or not to tuck?

Whew, what a weekend! I want to give a huge, HUGE thanks to H&M (and the two Ashley’s) for giving me the opportunity to help host the H&M Nola grand opening on Saturday. Sometimes, it’s not until after the fact that you step back and think “Hey wait, I did that? That’s sort of awesome.” I cannot be more grateful and thankful for such an experience.
And yes, was it an experience – it was pure craziness. I never imagined so many people would show up to the store. After the VIP event on Friday night (Blake Lively and Emma Roberts were there!!), people literally camped out in front of the store until noon the next day. The steady stream of people, the lines to the fitting rooms and checkout counters were never-ending. I think it’s safe to say it was an amazingly successful day for the French Quarter’s newest retail spot.
Jenn and I were able to pull a few lucky shoppers out of the fitting room lines to take them to a reserved dressing room where we gave them outfit advice and helped them put together new outfits. And you know that hashtag I’d been using all week on Instagram – #HMLovesNola? That was the secret discount code that we gave stylish shoppers to get an additional 20% off their entire order!
You’ll start seeing lots of H&M in some upcoming outfit posts including a pair of plaid pants I’m seriously obsessing over! And stay tuned because December already some amazing events on the calendar as well. 🙂
