    vintage hat (similar)

When I started putting together this outfit, I planned it
all around this fit and flare skirt from Umgee USA. The fun silhouette makes leather
look flirty and feminine. I wanted to keep the whole look girly with this
collar sweater and sheer, polka dot socks. How fun are the polka dot socks?!!
I’d been waiting and waiting on the right time to wear them, and THIS was it
for sure. And of course, I’ll find any reason to top things off with a
hat! ;)Also, I realized that while I love the items featured in my posts, sometimes they aren’t available anymore or can be difficult to find, so I’m devoting more time to find similar items at different price points. You’ll find the new link system above which will help make each outfit post more shop-able. I’ll also be trying to include promo codes and sales tips leading into the holidays.

Stay tuned for BIG Black Friday and Cyber Monday posts that you won’t want to miss. You’ll find all the best sales/promo codes in one post!

    Leopard and Leather Pt. 2

Blu Pepper shirt (similar) / Forever 21 skirt (similar) / Zara booties / tights c/o Darby’s (similar) / 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target bag / sunglasses c/o zeroUV

Take two on these basics seen in yesterday’s post –  an animal trimmed button-down and (faux) leather skirt. In the event of brisk weather, I’m always partial to covering my legs. I’m just seriously cold no matter where I go, so I love these tights from Darby’s. The feminine, lace trim plays off the edgy, asymmetrical leather. Because of the knee-high tights, the outfit really doesn’t need anything more – adding other pieces would be overload.

And I’m a repeat offender of the side tuck/front tuck as you probably know. When used the wrong way, it can look messy or frumpy, so be super selective if you try it. It works well on this crisp button-down because of the contrast of formal shirt to informal tuck. Sometimes, I’ll even do it with sweaters too. What do you think? To tuck or not to tuck?

    Leopard and Leather Pt. 1

Blu Pepper shirt / The Limited jacket (similar) / Forever 21 skirt (similar) / LV Speedy / Steve Madden heels / sunglasses c/o zero UV

Probably one of my favorite sets of photos EVER (I mean come on, there’s an ombre wall involved), this is part one of a two part styling series using leopard details and this (faux) leather skirt. I love mixing brown and black together, so leopard is always fun for me to include in outfits. I’m also mixing metals with silver sequin details and gold buckle shoes. With all the mixing of neutrals and metals, it’s good to include a classic like the LV print speedy bag. It brings a sense of stability to offset the trends.

Stay tuned for part two tomorrow – my favorite of the two!

    H&M Nola Opening Recap!

Whew, what a weekend! I want to give a huge, HUGE thanks to H&M (and the two Ashley’s) for giving me the opportunity to help host the H&M Nola grand opening on Saturday. Sometimes, it’s not until after the fact that you step back and think “Hey wait, I did that? That’s sort of awesome.” I cannot be more grateful and thankful for such an experience.

And yes, was it an experience – it was pure craziness. I never imagined so many people would show up to the store. After the VIP event on Friday night (Blake Lively and Emma Roberts were there!!), people literally camped out in front of the store until noon the next day. The steady stream of people, the lines to the fitting rooms and checkout counters were never-ending. I think it’s safe to say it was an amazingly successful day for the French Quarter’s newest retail spot.

Jenn and I were able to pull a few lucky shoppers out of the fitting room lines to take them to a reserved dressing room where we gave them outfit advice and helped them put together new outfits. And you know that hashtag I’d been using all week on Instagram – #HMLovesNola? That was the secret discount code that we gave stylish shoppers to get an additional 20% off their entire order!

You’ll start seeing lots of H&M in some upcoming outfit posts including a pair of plaid pants I’m seriously obsessing over! And stay tuned because December already some amazing events on the calendar as well. 🙂
