    Pret A Porter Event Recap

Last week’s Pret a Porter Fall Preview was such a great evening! Thanks SO much to everyone who came out and supported Haute Off the Rack and I as co-hosts. Approximately 20 looks walked across the L’auberge rooftop pool featuring luxurious linens and colorful knits. Each look was paired with accessories handpicked by Reagan Charleston from her jewelry line. There were also plentiful appetizers and flowing cocktails for all of the guests to enjoy before the presentation.

Today, I’m featuring my two favorites from the fall collection that were shown – a fiery maxi dress with mint accenting and a great charcoal and mint pantsuit. (I just love the out of the ordinary color pairing with the oh-so-popular mint.) Let me just say – I am in love with this maxi dress, and no doubt, you probably are too now after seeing it. It’s just pure perfection from the color combination down to the side slits. I also really enjoy the idea of introducing a mint pastel with fall neutrals, in this case, a charcoal gray. Also not to be overshadowed are the color-blocked knit tops (there’s a purple and gold one!) in luxe fabric.

Tomorrow, I’ll be showing you exactly what I was wearing from the Pret a Porter fall collection to the event!

    Paris Recap – Pt 5

Here it is, my last Paris post and what we got to do while visiting. Hopefully, my past posts will help all of you plan your future day adventures in Paris, but today is all about our nights…

    1. Before we left, we were told one of the most overrated things we would do while in Paris was seeing a show at the Moulin Rouge. I cannot even tell you how much I now disagree. The Moulin Rouge was one of the most memorable parts of our trip! Okay, so there are sparkly, feathery and at moments, really questionable costumes, but it was SO good.  They high-kicked and soared through the air, and I didn’t understand one thing they sang. I’ve seen Jubilee in Vegas, and I preferred Moulin Rouge so much more! We caught a show the first night we arrived, and it was perfect timing. OH did I mention they serve you champagne (lots)? Afterwards, we wound up inside the club next door that played nothing but American dance songs from the 90’s.

    2. A must for cocktails (and simply for getting a look inside this magnificent 5-star hotel) – visit the hotel bar in Le Bristol. They serve up chocolates and little specialty cocktails right after you are seated. The cocktail menu is filled with really creative drink concoctions. Plus, it’s a great spot to people watch. Our cab driver told us that David Beckham was staying there at the time… we never saw him. But there’s a white fluffy cat that patrols the hotel too.

    3. If you’re a fan of Sex and the City, then you’ll recognize Kong. Located in a trendier part of the city – right next to the giant Louis Vuitton headquarters, this restaurant is filled with Kartell Louis ghost chairs and boasts a gorgeous glass ceiling. The food was amazing. Smaller portions, but just so so good.

    4. Les Ombres. Hands down my favorite dinner of the entire trip. Amazing food with a view of the Eiffel Tower at night. I stepped out of my normal comfort zone and ordered the sauteed calamari on green risotto. I will forever dream of that dish. And the tower lights sparkling through the glass windows and ceiling.

    5. One night, we ventured to La Palette, a restaurant that turns into a bar/club at night. This is where all of the people our age converge over tables filled with wine and loud conversation. It’s clearly a spot for chic, fashionable Parisians who drive Vespas. Every single one of them. There were like a hundred parked on the sidewalk out front. Afterwards, we headed down the road to Le Pub St. Germaine to grab late night dessert. The 6th arrondissement is super artsy with lots of galleries and cool places to eat. Definitely worth a daytime visit too.

This isn’t the complete list of what we did every night, but just my favorites! If you have any questions about our trip or suggestions for other things we might have done to help plan a trip of your own, send me an email at!

    Reagan Charleston Jewelry + Giveaway

Over the past weekend, I got to finally meet with Reagan Charleston and view her gorgeous jewelry line with Jennifer from Haute Off the Rack. We piled on the bracelets for our last photo, but I truly didn’t want to take any of them off. Okay, so I did leave with one…

Reagan combines fresh water pearls and real quartz crystals with sterling silver and gold plated hardware. She’s even started designing her own metal pieces by having them carved in wax and then created into pieces like her sharks tooth bracelets and lions head necklaces.

Her jewelry including her fabulous back necklaces and druzy headpieces will also be showcased at the Pret a Porter Fall 2013 Preview and Design Showcase that I told you about yesterday. So even MORE incentive for you to enter to win a spot at the event and see her collection in person!

But wait… there’s more. In addition to giving away spots to the event in Baton Rouge on August 8, you also have a shot to win one of Reagan’s signature bracelets.

Enter by following our three Instagram accounts:

AND leave a comment under this post saying you’ve done so with your email address! A winner will be chosen at random. Good luck!

    Paris Recap – Pt. 4

So technically, this post should be “A Pinch of Versailles” because that’s pretty much how we spent our last day in Paris. Believe me, you need the entire day to really see the palace of Versailles. We seriously underestimated this before we got there and had to request extra hours from our driver. (OH and yes, you will need a driver or tour bus to take you out of the Paris city limits and actually to Versailles.) Another thing we underestimated – the amount of walking there is once you get there. Definitely look into the little buses that drive you around the garden grounds, or there are golf cart rentals as well.

From the main palace there are numerous gardens to explore as well as Marie Antoinette’s estate where she also had her own farm. It was really like her own little town. There are amazing fountains in the middle of the gardens where they have fireworks shows during certain nights of the summer. But the real reason to go – the palace. Oh my word. It’s stunning inside. These are only a handful of my photos but literally every thing was gilded gold, velvet walls and curtains, hand painted ceilings, over the top amazing. I would have zero problems living there.

Visiting Versailles made me want to go watch a documentary about the time period or at least watch that Kirsten Dunst Marie Antoinette movie again. I can’t even convey how historically interesting the whole place is. So put it on your bucket list as a must-do while you’re in Paris!

Next week will be my last post about our Paris trip (tear) and will include how we spent our Paris nights!
