Playa de la Paz Recap

I’m finally recapping our amazing week at Playa de la Paz today! I’ll be covering all of our activities, the deets on the residences and a few outfit details too (of course). This trip was one of my favorites to date, and I am so fortunate to have the BEST travel companions. (Carrie Bradshaw Lied, Haute Off the Rack, My Style Diaries – love you gals!) I was literally counting my blessings as we were on the runway taking off as we headed home from La Paz – and you’ll read why in today’s post on my Playa de la Paz recap.

The first info to know is all about La Paz, Mexico. The was only my 2nd time in Mexico (the first being Cabo), so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. La Paz is about a two-hour drive from the Cabo airport, and Playa de la Paz will gladly set up your transportation. La Paz translates into The Peace, and unlike Cabo, it’s not as overly developed, not as bustling with tourists and retains a sense of old world charm. When you are downtown, you are quite literally like one of the locals. La Paz is where life slows down enough for you to take in the natural and spiritual sides of Mexico.

Upon arrival to Playa de la Paz, we were treated with nothing but first-class service and hospitality. It’s not a resort – each of the 23 units are luxury real estate properties that are available for purchase, and some units are able to be rented. Because of this, the concierge and other services are quite customized and personal to the guests. (They stocked our unit with gluten-free options for me!)

We shared a three bedroom unit with an outdoor space that overlooks the pool and ocean. The Sea of Cortez is literally just steps away. Everything inside of our home for the week was so incredibly luxe and spacious, and the bedrooms and baths were designed with couples in mind. And guys, the closet space – the closet space is unreal!

[A number of the residents call Playa de la Paz their second home, but many of the units can be rented out as well.]

Karla, our amazing concierge thoughtfully set up all of our meals and activities to ensure that our time was well-spent. Our first full day was at sea with The Cortez Club (full post on that to come next). We also experienced a starlit dinner beside the ocean, pool deck massages, yoga under the palapa and horseback rides along the beach. All of this, and I still think one of my favorite moments was our surprise mariachi band appearance!

We also had time to explore downtown at our own pace. (Only a short distance away from the residences.) We explored the local shops and ocean-front businesses. We also stopped in at a local bagel shop where everyone fueled up on homemade bagels. (Not me, I had the cactus egg scramble, and it was delicious.) Other foodie places to mention – we stopped at the cutest Italian place on the way from the airport called Café Santa Fe. (It’s right down the road from THE Hotel California, for any Eagles fans.) This place had the most amazing white tail sashimi and fresh caprese salad!! We also stopped into Nim to quench our margarita thirsts. The guacamole and grilled sheets of cheese were unbelievable.

As I mentioned, I went into this trip not knowing much about La Paz or the residences at Playa de la Paz, and I was blown away by the hospitality and attention to detail that were provided. As always, shoot me any questions you might have about our stay!
