5 Affordable Tanning Essentials For Festival Season

Coachella is finally kicking off this week, which reminds me that festival season is officially upon us. Even if you’re not into music festivals, there’s no denying that being outdoors with live music is one of the best joys of the season. This is a perfect time for dancing, relaxing, and reveling in life, but the sun and heat can take a serious toll on your skin. Having a great time is priority, but I always like to make sure my skin is properly treated! I wanted to share a few ways I prep my skin before heading out along with some affordable tanning essentials you wouldn’t want to be without. The best part about this list is that everything is budget-friendly, and you can find them conveniently at Walmart both in-store and online!

Summer music festivals are a great time to bring out crop tops, lacy skirts, and flowy dresses. There’s no better way to rock those feminine frocks than with healthy-looking skin. I love bronze, sun-kissed skin, but I strive to achieve it in the healthiest way possible. That’s where self-tanners come in. Pick one with a lightweight, hydrating formula that looks natural and radiant. The Jergens Natural Glow Lotion is inexpensive, fast-drying, and gradually builds color to your liking. (Also talked about it here.) If you apply a product like L’Oreal Sublime Bronze Tinted Self-Tanning Lotion, you can use it to cover blemishes, even out scars, and sculpt areas where you want more definition. I swear by a good tinted foam that can be applied with a tanning mitt. L.A. Tan offers a sunless tanning foam, and you can even order St. Tropez Tanning Foam from too!

Facial Self-Tanners

Because I am really diligent about my skincare, I only use self-tanner that is specifically formulated for my face. Make sure you pick a facial facial self-tanner that’s oil-free and absorbs quickly so you’re not left with that tacky after effect. I look for gradual tanners that I can mix in with my everyday moisturizer to build up the color over time. One of the best I’ve found at Walmart is Jergens Natural Glow Facial Moisturizer. It’s super easy to mix half of your normal moisturizer and half of the self-tanning moisturizer.

Beauty Bronzers

When I’m spending hours outside in the heat, I prefer to swap heavier liquid makeup for powders instead. But you still need a good bronzer for tan, sculpted cheekbones! Physicians Formula bronzers are perfect because they are long-lasting and offer multi-tasking skincare benefits. The natural, radiant coverage from this one is perfect for the concert grounds and outdoor events. I also like the coral blush color from the same collection. (If you need a good budget-friendly concealer – try the Physicians Formula rX concealer in Natural Light! I’ve used it as an everyday concealer since 2007 – also in this post!)

Body Sunscreen

Don’t forget to apply sunscreen! For easy application, you can try a sunscreen mist which is also super efficient and convenient on the go or if you need to reapply. However, traditional lotions work just as well, so I can ensure I’m getting maximum coverage – and I don’t forget my hands! This one by Neutrogena Dry Touch SPF 100 offers enhanced protection, so it’s perfect for long hours in the sun. (I swear by Neutrogena products. I also use this anti-wrinkle SPF EVERY DAY. Everyone that I make try this cream loves it. I also use these Neutrogena makeup wipes.)

I also really like Aveeno products including the Aveeno Protect + Hydrate SPF 30 if you’re looking for an every day SPF. No matter which you prefer, Walmart always has a ton of sunscreen options to fit what you’re looking for.

Body Oil

There’s nothing prettier than glistening skin glowing in the sun! So, if you tend to get parched skin, I highly recommend trying a body oil. They’re excellent for keeping your skin super moisturized and healthy looking. I’ve been using body oils more these days because the result is smoother and provides more radiance especially when the sun hits my skin. If you want to intensify that glow, try one with a hint of shimmer or bronzer. Neutrogena Sesame Body Oil can also be added to your bath water to soften skin!

Are there any beauty essentials you can’t live without during festival season? I’d love to hear all about them below!
