One dress silhouette that I’m loving for summer is the fit and flare dress. The shape is just so universally flattering on practically every figure. By cinching the midsection and flaring out at the hips, you’re highlighting your thinnest point. Not to mention, it’s not hugging too tightly or emphasizing parts that you’d rather cover up! It will also be more comfortable when the temps rise high in the summer when you’ll be looking for less clingy styles and fabrics – especially in Louisiana heat. I love this polka dot version that’s the perfect, conservative length for both work and summer parties. The style is so classic that it’s an American iconic staple fit for everyone’s closet! I find that Macy’s has a great variety of fit and flare options like this polka dot version, this nautical version and this super cute strapless version!

The monotone color on this dress was an opportunity to throw in a bright solid like this hot pink handbag. You might remember a post previously on Wink and Winn that allows you to design your own handbag – here is my end result! Would you have guessed it’s hot pink? I also like a sophisticated strappy sandal with this sort of dress – so I chose these gold heels to give it a polished look. I’d avoid anything too chunky since there’s already enough pattern and color going on.
