Warm Travels & New Opportunity

So basically a lot is happening this week – I quit my job (talked about it on Instagram Monday night) and I’m flying off for a short trip to NYC this morning! Big changes are on the horizon for me, and they are all real, real good for my sanity, my well-being and for new opportunity. It’s been really hard for me to talk about, and I guess it might be easier for me to just write it here. So let’s give it a try.

After years of working in athletics, Monday was my very last day as creative director at LSU as I switch gears and start next week in the creative department for Community Coffee. I already feel like a giant weight has been lifted off of my shoulders – it has been an emotional couple of weeks as I have been behind-the-scenes, contemplating this career change. It was truly harder saying goodbye to all of my coworkers friends than saying goodbye to the job itself which right there tells me I’m making the right decision. I’m sure a lot of you can relate to feeling stretched thin and under appreciated or being made feel guilty about how you spend your personal days or free time. SO, I’m super excited at what this new career means in terms of creative content and the idea of just being inspired by new surroundings and new people. I’m excited to be a part of a company who openly embraces the fact that I have this blog and that I’ve built up a social following and what that can mean for their own content on social platforms.

And not only that, what does it mean for A Pinch of Lovely? It will mean more balance in my life and less stress on my plate which I’m hoping will lead to more availability in the evening to devote to the blog. It will also mean more creativity within my new space. I’m literally smiling as I type this because these past few months in athletics have been so difficult for me. Everyone always asks me “how do you do it all” and guys, the effects of overworking myself were really beginning to take a toll. You can do it all, but you can’t do it all well – which is why I’ve decided to make this move that allows me to focus on work during work hours and focus on personal time after work – instead of work responsibilities eliminating my personal time all together. And during my little week-long, unemployed break, I’m heading to NYC to celebrate, meet with brands and plan more things for the blog!

So as I head off, here is a little comfy, travel inspiration for your upcoming Thanksgiving trips. (I won’t be traveling this year as the family is headed down south to my house. Cue freakout I-can’t-cook-please-send-me-your-recipes.) More to come soon!

Fit information:

I am wearing a size medium in this sweater because I thought my head might get stuck in the neck hole in the small, haha. Just kidding, I like the looser and longer fit of this knit. The jeans are a size 5 – I know that’s a weird size, but I think it’s sized in teen sizes! My Ugg boots are sized up a half size like all of my boots to accommodate socks. 🙂

Good luck with the job change! I did that a month and a half ago, and it really has made the biggest difference. Like you, saying goodbye to my coworkers was 10x harder than leaving the job behind, and that remains true today. And loving this look!
