Not-so-fun-fact: Jordan HATES Valentine’s Day. In fact, I’ve had so many other people tell me that their significant others do as well. (It most likely has something to do with the pre-set menus and the pressure to produce some amazing romantic gesture.) We usually pick a weeknight or the weekend before to eat at our favorite restaurant – something a little more low-key. So I thought I would put together a few casual Valentine’s Day date ideas for anyone looking for alternate options to the typical three-course dinner.
And I’ve also teamed up with Sofft to put together a casual Valentine’s Day outfit idea with their Somers slip-on sneaker. What I love about this shoe is your ability to wear it with basically everything! (I’m typing this post now wearing yoga pants and my Somers.) And look how cute it is with white jeans and a little off-the-shoulder top – perfect for a weekend date with your other half!

1. Movie Night
Whether you’re a staying-in with Netflix type of couple or would rather head out for dinner and a flick, movie night is a always a classic date idea. Plus, with the Oscars right around the corner, you’re surely needing to catch one or two of the nominees! Jordan and I are more of the Netflix types – what can I say, I love making popcorn and cuddling with my pups at home.
2. Go Bowling
When’s the last time you had a fun bowling night?! It’s such a fun way to get a bigger group of people together – couples or non-couples! (This would also be a good way to get all of your single friends together for VDay too!) I think you guys would truly be surprised at my exceptional bowling skills. Going to need to put a bowling night on the calendar asap.
3. Take A Cooking Class
Jordan and I have talked about doing this so many times, we just need to find one and commit to it! His mom has even offered to come over and teach us to recreate family recipes. And if you can’t find a cooking class in your area in time for Valentine’s Day, cooking a meal together at home is always a good option as well. Normally, we will split up the meal responsibilities and snack as we go!
4. Game Night
So we were invited to a friends’ game night around Christmas, and it was the BEST time. You literally forget how much fun you can have without the tv on or your phone in hand. I’m a pretty competitive game board player – Candyland was MY JAM back in the day. (I still play The Game of Life with my little sister.) I think ordering take-out and pulling out a deck of cards or your favorite games would be a really creative way to spend a date night.
5. Plan a Staycation
If you’re looking to get away for a little R&R and alone time with your honey, a staycation is probably what you need! Just make sure to pick somewhere with a great restaurant, cushy robes and room service treats – or at least that’s what I go for! I also go for a place that either offers great breakfast/brunch or is close to somewhere that does!
