I told myself I would not let wedding posts consume the blog, but I ran into an issue I think other people might identify with – the wedding registry – so I thought I’d expound upon the topic. Jordan and I have lived together long enough to have gathered all of the “essentials” for operating in our home, but we haven’t quite invested in the non-essentials like serving ware, an actual full set of dishes that match, etc. And if you haven’t noticed by now, I’m super non-traditional, so china patterns are not happening either. At the same time, we’ve been living in our house long enough to know where we need better entertaining items. So what did we end up including on our registry for this area of our home?
Clearly, I picked out mostly everything… Jordan’s list consisted of a bike rack (he has no bike), an ice cream scoop, a plastic trash can which I have since swapped out with a nicer version and about 5 different types of wine racks.
Here are the questions I asked to help plan my entertaining picks:
What colors/styles match our kitchen?
What are we currently lacking?
If we held a dinner party for 6-8 people, what would we need?
If we hosted a shower or party at our home, what would we need?
What items could be fun monogramed?
How can we make our countertops more visually appealing?
What are we missing for the bar cart?
Thanks to all of our sweet and thoughtful friends for all of the gifts you see above! Part two of the registry series will be coming up soon!

There's something about spring that makes me feel refreshed. Bright whites and spring cleaning are on the horizon, and if you're like me, you're pretty much willing spring to show up on your doorstep. While waiting, give your home a fresh makeover too. It's easy to spruce up your place with brightly colored accents like the ones above from Design Darling. (I've already added spring blooms to vases and am ready to bust out my new floral scented candles.) Think about stepping up your stationery or soap dispensers with bright hues. A little color will go a long way and will have you feeling the warmer weather in no time at all!
Got a spring bride? Lots of lovely bridal shower or bridesmaid gift ideas too! Check out Design Darling's online store!
Welcome to Part 2 of my Valentine’s Day Style at Home series. I enlisted the help of some of my favorite brands to show you that sometimes you don’t even need to leave home to feel pretty – even if you’re just curled up with a good book! Pamper yourself this weekend with some sweet treats (as linked above) for yourself, and in my case, a few doggie kisses too. Odie turned out to be quite the camera hog this shoot, huh?
At the end of last year, I was a
wee bit totally behind in my projects around the house. So over my very short holiday break, I made it a point to take care of business. I took a few snaps of my progress thus far while setting up for our NYE party – which gave me reason to get things in order. See what’s on this list in the full post!
• Cleaning and then moving the giant bronze and glass dining table into the room
• Painting a new painting to hang over the credenza
• Re-evaluate the couch pillows. I added these really cute animal print ones to offset the black and white graphic printed pillows.
Okay those are just a few, but I’ve got a few updates that are in the works and allllmost finished. Will be showing you soon!
Are you resolving to finish up any leftover 2013 projects too?
