The 4 Basic Wardrobe Pieces I Have On Repeat

I have a closet full of rainbow brights, but yet I still reach for my easy going stripes and neutral heels regularly. Because you know, sometimes I just want a laid back outfit that matches my mood. And because sometimes I don’t feel like fussing with lip liner and a bright lipstick. These are those pieces I reach for on my throw-on-concealer-and-lip-gloss kind of days. And not only that, I’ll probably wear these 4 pieces so much that I’ll have to invest in new versions next spring summer because they’ll get so much use – mainly because I can also mix and match them with my bright pieces too. Here are my 4 tried and true, double-duty, must-have basics for every spring and summer closet.

1. Striped Tank

EVERY closet needs a striped top. I usually like to have a warm weather version and a cold weather version at ALL times. I go through some stripes you guys. Stripes go with every other pattern and color – no thinking involved. And have you ever noticed how someone instantly looks a little more sophisticated when they put stripes on? I’m loving striped tanks for all types of denim, shorts and skirts.

2. Distressed Jeans

It’s a no-brainer that jeans are a staple year round – but you might not realize that light wash denim is a little trickier to wear. It might be because dark washes are super slimming and that non-Gisele legs just look better in dark jeans, but light wash – different story. A little more effort goes into trying on and finding the perfect light wash jeans – especially white jeans. A little trick of mine to get around awkward light wash denim is to go for the distressed versions that offer a little distraction to the eye. Try out distressed boyfriend jeans like in today’s post that’s little looser than skinny jeans.

3. Neutral Sandals

I’m sure you’re reading this like DUH, Krystal. But hey, sometimes I have to state the obvious. Every girl needs a great pair of neutral heels to carry her through spring and summer. The pair that will go with jeans but also dresses. And ones that are easy to wear for long periods of time. I decided my go-to pair this year would be the Splendid Jayla heels, and I can tell you my decision was a really good one – I love this shoe and wear it all of the time!

4. The Classic Crossbody

The classic crossbody is about as essential to your wardrobe as the neutral sandals above. With travel plans on the horizon you need at least one classic crossbody that can be dressed either up or down. It needs to be big enough to hold all of your essentials even when you’re traveling too! That’s why I’m loving my ZAC Zac Posen Eartha saddle bag. Tons of room and it’s very lightweight – meaning the weight on your shoulder is going to be a result of what you put into it!

I love those classics as well – and they go so well together! It's so easy to amplify a classic outfit with gorgeous jewelry when you have the right basics – and your pick are perfect 🙂
