This post was originally supposed to go up yesterday afternoon… as you can see, it never got finished. I am rather struggling with balancing work, blogging and life right now, so apologies for the lateness!

I like to play with proportions when it comes to separates like pairing anything oversized with an interesting silhouette. Once again, I’m wearing this go-to cable knit sweater because it’s super comfy and goes with everything – it even makes a summery skirt take a turn towards fall.

This scuba flare skirt was originally part of the late summer collection which means it’s now on sale via the J.Crew website. They also recently brought out the same skirt in solid colors that are now also on sale, so if you love the look, now’s the time to grab it. Last time I checked, the sizes were limited! Links to both skirts are above in the outfit details or below in the shop the post widget.

For me this look says that you don’t have to be predictable with fall outfits. It’s fun to try new proportions and patterns that you wouldn’t normally wear together. And who knows, you might even discover a new style that works for your body type. I typically don’t wear that many skirts that run tight across the front, but once I tried this one on, I found out that it will work on me despite my height (much like the flip skirt from Loft in Tuesday’s post).
