Pieces of Paris

For today’s post, I’ve teamed up with Maison Jules – a super cute brand of clothes inspired by Paris and available at Macy’s – to share three ways that I channel my inner Parisian without even hopping on a plane. It’s no surprise that Louisiana has so many French elements especially in the Southern part of the state, so my little “Pieces of Paris” are literally right down the street from me every day. Join me as I share my three favorite French-inspired moments in my own city as well as three outfits from the Maison Jules collection in today’s full post! (See the full Maison Jules collection here!)

(See all three looks in the full post!)

what to wear to work

1. Favorite French Restaurant: Galatoire’s Bistro
For French fine dining and cuisine, this is your spot! Visit for dishes like Crabmeat Sardou and Oysters en Brochette, and you’ve got to try out the dessert menu of course. This dotted a-line dress from the Maison Jules line is perfect for both dinner inside the restaurant and/or brunch on the patio! Dress it up with heels or go true Parisian and opt for a classic ballet flat in the fall. (I also recommend French Market Bistro in town as well. You can’t go wrong either way!)

2. Favorite Cafe au Lait: Magpie Cafe
True story, I didn’t start drinking coffee until about a year ago, and now it’s a morning habit that I truly enjoy. I’ve also enjoyed finding my favorite little coffee spots around the city, and Magpie Cafe wins my vote hands down for fresh-brewed coffee and breakfast. My favorite time to go is in fall when you can sit outside underneath the umbrellas. And because fall is just around the corner, I’ve got my layers ready to go like this denim vest and polka dot, fit and flare dress from Maison Jules!

3. Favorite Dessert: Sucre macarons from Alexander’s Market
I’m not a huge dessert person, but I LOVE macarons. From the first Lauderee visit in NYC to the actual Parisian Lauderee visit in person, I am enamored with this little French dessert – especially the pistachio ones. Sucre in New Orleans is about the closest I can get to the real thing, but did you know that Alexander’s Market carries Sucre macarons – the only grocery store in Baton Rouge that carries them. There’s nothing like a sweet treat on the weekend, and one of my favorite weekend outfit pieces is this cargo vest from Maison Jules. I recently wore it over one of this floral dress as I tried not to
completely spoil my dinner.

Thank you to Maison Jules and Macy’s for teaming up and sponsoring today’s post! All thoughts and favorite spots in Baton Rouge are of my own opinion.
