NYFW SS17 Recap

I wanted to share my New York Fashion Week recap (finally a week later!) now that I’ve gotten home and back in front of my computer! I’ve outlined where we stayed, where we ate, my favorite activities – and one of my outfit’s too!Plus, stay tuned for a post dedicated to my favorite trends seen during fashion week coming later this week!

Where to Stay

This was my first time ever staying in the Flatiron which is
quite different than our normal Soho digs. We found The Evelyn Hotel with their
generous suites – seriously the most room that we’ve had during fashion week.
The area was a nice quiet respite every evening when we came back from the
hustle and bustle of fashion week activities and was also one of the most
convenient locations that we’ve had.

Cabs and ubers to the two main show locations were no more
than 10 minutes away when in previous years rides from Soho could take almost
30 minutes with traffic to Moynihan Station. We actually made it to most shows
EARLY this season which I’ve never been able to say before! I’d say besides the comfy robes and slippers and endless pastry buffets every morning, the location of The Evelyn was the absolute best!

We were able to walk to food within blocks of this location
– I may have hit up Chipotle TWICE. (It was a block away, don’t judge me.) We
also walked to Dreamdry for blowouts and were right down the street from
Madison Square Park where a little food market was set up – so so cute.

Where to Eat

Besides Chipotle, I had many delicious meals this trip at a
few new places that I’ve never been. I’d highly recommend Mercer Kitchen in
Soho, Marlin Grill attached to the Tommy Bahama store (sounds weird, but so
good), Gallow Green (2nd time going to this rooftop restaurant), the
Standard Highline’s restaurant that has a secret burger only offered on certain
nights, and if you’re looking for a boozy brunch with rap music – look no
further than LAVO.

Favorite Shows:

I’m always in love with the shows that have ballgowns and
beading, so I loved Tadashi Shoji and Jenny Packham. Monique Lhuillier changed
her show day, so I missed that show – but always one of my favorites.

My favorite show that I could picture myself wearing every
single thing – Marissa Webb. Lots of cargos and ginghams in surprisingly
feminine silhouettes. Loved every single look in this show. Saw a lot of
celebrities and major bloggers at this show, so you know it was good.

Best cool girl show is hands down Rebecca Minkoff. Not only
was it ready-to-buy straight off the runway, but she had some of my favorite bloggers walking the runway AND a live band playing as they walked.
Not to mention if you block off a street in Soho, and your show is going to be
legit.

Favorite Brand
Events:

One of my favorite dinners was with Sole Society and ArconaBeauty before the Tadashi Shoji show. Models in the show were wearing Sole
Society heels, so as a little pre-show celebration, we went to Gallow Green for
rosé and small plates. So delish and one of the cutest rooftop garden
restaurants in the city.

Gigi New York is hosting the most adorable pop-up shop in
the Meatpacking District for the entire month of September.
