    Behind The Blog: Thankful

I sat down and really tried to come up with a list of all the things I’m thankful for this year. I have been so blessed and have so many reasons to be grateful in 2014 that it posed to be an impossible task. At the forefront of my mind, I am so incredibly thankful for this blog. This outlet that began as a hobby has given me opportunities beyond my wildest expectations and given me relationships that I would never have made otherwise. Here are six reasons this Thanksgiving that I am grateful for A Pinch of Lovely and for all of you that make it possible.

    1. Through APoL, I have formed some pretty priceless friendships with people that I otherwise might have never known. At the top of my list are Jenn from Haute Off the Rack and Kaela Williams (who is often found in my photo credits!) I am so appreciate and thankful for all of our adventures together and all of the blog conversations that no one else would ever understand!

    2. If you’re not a blogger yourself, chances are you aren’t familiar with rewardStyle, but it plays a huge part in the behind-the-scenes action of APoL. It’s given me the ability to pursue blogging as a career path and provides a way for me to set goals for myself each month through analytics. (Oh and they throw some pretty fun parties too!)

    3. New York Fashion Week – a DREAM of mine that somehow came true twice in one year. I never in my life imagined I would sit inside “the tents” or play dress-up in PR showrooms, and I feel incredibly lucky to have had the experience not once but twice in 2014.

    4. Working creatively with brands on projects and collaborations is by far one of my favorite parts of blogging. I love, loved working with the Kendra Scott team this year. From the Baton Rouge opening to the curated page on the website + the New York showroom tour to finally meeting Kendra in person, I’m so thankful for KS team and their support for bloggers.

    5. “I am very busy.” I totally am, and I’m loving every second of it. Although, I have a full-time graphic design job, I get to tap into a different creative side through APoL which basically means… I have two jobs. BUT, you will never hear me complain. I know it’s cliche – If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life!

    6. With all of the outfit photos I take, this blog has also helped me embrace imperfections. Not every photo turns out to be the most flattering, and there are many that never make it onto the blog. It’s definitely a hard and daunting thing to do to put pictures of yourself out on the internet for everyone to judge. I’m thankful for all of the readers and followers on social media and for all of the positivity and support.

I could go on and on, but these seemed like the best ones to start with. Thank you, thank you for reading along and following along. I’m so grateful for each one of you and what you mean to A Pinch of Lovely. Happy Thanksgiving!! xo

    Trench and Turtleneck

new way to wear a turtleneck

Because it’s probably the most under-appreciated item in your winter wardrobe, I wanted to show one way I’m updating the turtleneck for fall. Pairing a turtleneck with a midi skirt is my absolute favorite way to give this piece an instant chic moment. For today’s post, I event went a step further by adding a long, sleeveless coat to complete this monochromatic look.

One last November post with my sleeveless trench! I wore it last with a fit and flare skirt, but I knew it would look equally as great with this colorblocked midi skirt. I’m also wearing my peep toe booties that I just can’t get enough of – definitely my favorite shoe purchase this season. (They are now on sale for $50!! I cannot get over how much Nine West has dropped the price on these guys!)

This last fall post is bittersweet because fall is one of my favorite seasons to dress for – it’s just cool enough for layering, but not cold enough to pile on the big coats. Starting next week, I’ll be starting my winter and holiday outfit posts. Think holiday party outfit ideas, and I’m even getting sort of crazy and throwing some domestic holiday at home style posts.

Over the next day or two, I’ll be busy behind the scenes getting all of my sale posts up for Black Friday, so head back tomorrow and early Friday for the best round up of Black Friday sales!

    Holiday Blogger Accessory Giveaway!

I’m hosting an exciting group giveaway with some amazing blogger friends just in time for the holidays. The winner gets to keep the prizes or gift them to someone special on their gift list. The total worth of this giveaway is $400!

    About the Sponsors:

RAKANI – The Rakani story began in March 2012 when founder Chirayu Patel gave his girlfriend a watch for her birthday. She jokingly asked if the watch was meant to keep her from always being late. Although it wasn’t, it made him realize that watch designs today have no particular meaning behind them. This idea inspired the premise behind Rakani, which is to create meaningful designs that have significance beyond the product itself.

Sunglasses Shop – One of the leading online retailers for name brand sunglasses and prescription glasses and is a certified Ray-Ban dealer.

    About the Giveaway:

What’s up for grabs? Any RAKANI designer watch of choice up to $250 and Ray-Ban giveaway worth $150. Total worth of $400.

    Wearing Winter Pastels

Wearing winter pastels is one way to brighten up your darker, jewel-toned fall and winter outfits. I tend to go heavy on the navys, blacks and browns during the colder months, but it’s nice to change it up with some pretty pastels. This baby blue sweater is a refreshing piece that will pair well with your black and navy pieces – like when I wore this same baby blue sweater with black skinny jeans

This gray, quilted skirt from Loft has been such a fun addition to my fall wardrobe, and it’s currently on major sale! The great thing about it is that it’s going to be a great piece to wear in the spring as well, and I plan on maximizing it’s use across both seasons. The same can be said about any winter pastels – they are smart investments because they can be worn now and into early spring when the temperatures are still cool. (This waffle-knit baby blue sweater is also on sale and available in multiple colors!)

I’m dying over these Shoemint triple strap heels – so much so that I also got them in the navy suede. They remind me of the colorblock Schutz Quirada heel but just a portion of the price tag. Which is why it totally made sense to get both colors, right? My necklace is an older one that’s not available anymore, but Baublebar has some amazing statement bib necklaces for the holidays that are very similar!
