    Geaux Deconstructed

Greylin top c/o L.Mae Boutique / Urban Outfitters skirt (old) / wristlet c/o Hobo / Steve Madden lace-up boots / necklace c/o The Akola Project / affirmation braclet c/o BCBGeneration / Purple GEN X bracelet (new color!) and Nutmeg Stirrup bracelet c/o Marissa del Rosario / sunglasses c/o zeroUV

Football is here! This weekend is LSU’s first home game, so this post is devoted to wearing the purple and gold. (And even if you’re not a Tiger fan, this color combo is a really fun one for fall.)

L.Mae Boutique is a great stop for game day clothing – the online boutique has a search by color option making it super easy to find your college colors. In this case, I picked out the animal print tank in purple and gold by Greylin and paired it with a mustard skirt. These two pieces will be perfect for September football weather (or heat as we are experiencing here in Louisiana).

Another must for football game days – a small purse. I’m always opting for crossbodies or something light and easy to carry. This wristlet by Hobo is all you really need to take into the game. There’s an inside pocket that’s sized to fit your phone, and it has slits for all your cards and cash. The last thing you need when walking from tailgate to tailgate is a bulky bag, so save your shoulder all the weight and switch to the wrist.

Additionally, I was counting down the days until September when it was seasonally appropriate to break out some booties. This time around, I wanted to go in a totally new direction. Last year, I had the typical suede, zip up short boots, but I really wanted to try lace-up booties ever since visiting Paris this summer. I never gave them a second thought until saw this amazingly chic Parisian girl wearing lace-up boots with skinny jeans. Ever since then, I’ve been looking for the perfect pair (with a reasonable price tag) – and I found them at Steve Madden.

Are you game day ready? What are you guys wearing this weekend?

    Magic Instagram Recap

I have SO many photos from WWDMAGIC to go through this weekend and use to plan my full recap posts, but in the meantime, here are some of my favorite images and a little snippet about what was going on this past week:

    1. My official badges for Magic. I couldn’t go anywhere without these!
    2. The view of part of the Central Hall from the BCBGeneration skybox. Just a glimpse at how the booths were set up – some were pretty elaborate.
    3. Met up with the Candy Apple girls who are busy buying for their new boutique opening in September! So fun seeing some of the things they were scooping up.
    4. BCBGeneration affirmation bracelets that we made during out blogger event with the brand.
    5. I made the signage board y’all!
    6. Q&A session with Joyce Azria – creative director for BCBGeneration.

(Can you tell there’s going to be a big post on a certain brand coming up? Stay tuned next week!)

    Rainbow Romper

Romper c/o Umgee USA / sandals c/o Shutini / Rebecca Minkoff purse (similar) / Give a Penny Designs earrings via Head Over Heels Baton Rouge / bracelets: c/o Dotted Tusk, c/o Reagan Charleston Designs, Stella & Dot, c/o Marissa del Rosario / sunglasses c/o zeroUV / necklace via Target / Photos by Lacey Rabalais Photography

There’s really nothing easier than the perfect romper – comfortable but still chic, versatile and easy to get in and out of . Because seriously, some of them are just flat out impossible.

This Umgee USA romper is sort of essential for me. I love the longer sleeves because I’m always cold. It’s in a light cotton making it super comfy to lounge around in but also looks nice enough to dress up for a night out. That’s exactly why it made it to Vegas with me for MAGIC market. Not to mention, Umgee USA will be on the floor, so I’ll be stopping by the booth to get to know the brand further. Since they are a wholesale company, you can find their clothes online in great online boutiques like Winter LennonThe Florida House, and even Zulily.

You’ll also notice that I’m back in Shutini with new colored straps and a new way to tie them. I recently realized the shoes are great if you know you’ll be walking a lot. If the straps start rubbing, all you have to do is tie them differently – major plus for traveling!

Another part of this outfit that I’d like to point out is the pair of Give a Penny Designs earrings that I discovered at Head Over Heels in Baton Rouge. These are fabulous transition pieces (something you will be hearing much more about over the next month or so). You can check out more of the designer’s pieces http://www.giveapennydesigns.com/HERE or in person at Head Over Heels.

    Cropped Pt. 2

Anthropologie gingham crop (no longer available but similar here) / Forever 21 skirt (old) / J.Crew Factory necklace (sold out but I like this one too / ASOS heels / Rebecca Minkoff purse (similar) / bracelets c/o Dotted Tusk, Reagan Charleston Jewelry and Rosena Sammi / sunglasses c/o zeroUV /  Photos by Lacey Rabalais Photography

In part one of this cropped series, I mentioned that when you start feeling brave with crop tops, you can show off a sliver of skin. Here is my sliver. This is about as much sliver as it’s going to get out in public, haha. I remember telling Lacey, the photographer, about my outfit… and once she saw it, she said OH okay that’s not bad at all. So yes – it sounds totally risqué, but it’s really not as scandalous as you think. Just remember to be ultra conservative and/or classic with everything else. Shooting for super, trendy pants or a tight mini skirt will sure to be overkill – unless you’re going to Vegas…And that I am! I leave tomorrow for a friend’s bachelorette party and then head straight into WWDMAGIC week. I started packing outfits for MAGIC on Monday night and got a big shot of anxiety. Almost like packing for summer camp for the first time and you don’t know who you’re sharing your bunk bed with, and you know you’re not that good at archery… That’s exactly what the knot in my stomach felt like. BUT I’m feeling a lot better now – I’ve exchanged emails with my blogger roomie – and I’m excited to get thrown in the mix.

SO stay tuned, for all of the MAGIC updates that will start next Sunday through Wednesday! Oh and of course, enjoy all the posts I’ve spent countless hours on scheduling for you guys while I’m gone! 😉

    Pret A Porter Event Recap

Last week’s Pret a Porter Fall Preview was such a great evening! Thanks SO much to everyone who came out and supported Haute Off the Rack and I as co-hosts. Approximately 20 looks walked across the L’auberge rooftop pool featuring luxurious linens and colorful knits. Each look was paired with accessories handpicked by Reagan Charleston from her jewelry line. There were also plentiful appetizers and flowing cocktails for all of the guests to enjoy before the presentation.

Today, I’m featuring my two favorites from the fall collection that were shown – a fiery maxi dress with mint accenting and a great charcoal and mint pantsuit. (I just love the out of the ordinary color pairing with the oh-so-popular mint.) Let me just say – I am in love with this maxi dress, and no doubt, you probably are too now after seeing it. It’s just pure perfection from the color combination down to the side slits. I also really enjoy the idea of introducing a mint pastel with fall neutrals, in this case, a charcoal gray. Also not to be overshadowed are the color-blocked knit tops (there’s a purple and gold one!) in luxe fabric.

Tomorrow, I’ll be showing you exactly what I was wearing from the Pret a Porter fall collection to the event!
