One of my favorite holiday traditions is being part of Secret Santa gift exchanges! This year, I’ve even joined a few exchanges with other bloggers – some that I’m very close with and some that I’ve never even met! Of course, it can be super easy buying gifts for close friends, but what about those that you might not know so well? To help you get gifting, I’m sharing 5 Secret Santa buying tips that I always follow in today’s post. Plus, I’m opening up my own Secret Santa packages containing goodies from New York and Company!
New York and Company was so excited to spread the holiday spirit, that they hosted a Secret Santa exchange with a group of their favorite bloggers. We were all given a person to shop for, and we used each other’s blogs and social media accounts for clues on what to gift one another. Click through to see what my Secret Santa picked out for me and how I’m wearing the pieces she chose!
Plus, see all 5 Secret Santa Buying Tips in today’s full post!
1. Set the Price Limit
Set an attainable price limit for everyone in the group and stick to it. This is always important so that everyone in the group plays on an even gifting field!
2. Determine Your Type of Gift
Most gifts will fall into specific categories that you can use as guides: tech, beauty, fashion, hobbies, food/drink, humor, etc.
3. Make it Personal
Try to find out a person’s “favorites.” For example, what kinds of topics come up in casual conversation? What do they post about on social media? Where do they eat? What do they do after work?
4. Get Creative
Tailor your gift in a creative way that helps the person guess that it’s from you! For example, if your person loves movies, make a movie night basket with popcorn and candy along with a gift card!
5. Start a New Tradition
Add in another fun element to your Secret Santa tradition – like exchanging ornaments, baked cookies, and/or homemade cards for each other!
