Our Social Distancing + Work From Home Schedule with a Baby

What a strange and confusing time that we are in right now. We’ve been in self-quarantine because of COVID-19 for a little over a week now, and finding our new normal has been a bit of a learning experiment. I’ve personally been struggling a lot over what type of content I can offer that will be USEFUL for you guys as we try to navigate this time together.

Obviously, the normal schedule of blog posts was all about spring outfits, spring beauty, and spring shoes. Not super important if we aren’t going anywhere, right? Not only that, people and the economy are going to be struggling financially, and it just doesn’t sit well with me to focus on product-based information during this time.

(PS. If you are still wanting to take a look at product picks and sales, I’ll still be sharing here and there on LTK and my SHOP page as I share things that are linkable.)

Work From Home Schedule with a One Year Old

I know a ton of other bloggers have been offering their “work from home tips” across social media especially since a lot of us have been working from home for years now. But I’ve found that tips can be subjective especially if you don’t have a set schedule nailed down – those tips can seem to fly out the window fast.

For the past year, Jordan and I have realized the importance of structure and having a set schedule. We’ve utilized the Moms on Call schedule for Bennett since he was born! Not only has it set Bennett up to thrive, but it has allowed us to successfully juggle his needs and our own work/life balance.

Normally, I work from home, Jordan works from his office, and Bennett goes to day school. So this new quarantine life with a one year old has required us to restructure of our days while still allowing him to thrive. Jordan and I have each shifted our WFH hours to split time with Bennett in a way that allows us both to complete work responsibilities.

I know A LOT of people are now trying to figure out how to juggle this new family lifestyle, so I wanted to share the schedule that seems to be working for us so far! Disclaimer that our schedule may not work for you exactly depending on your baby’s age, but I’m hoping it can be a good guide for “Morning Mom Hours” vs. “Afternoon Dad Hours.”

Of course, the roles/times can obviously change and swap around. The key is going to be finding that healthy balance of work and parenting time. Plus, having set times schedules for Mom and Dad is a way to help manage expectations and responsibilities. No one wants to feel like they’re doing it ALL by themselves!

I’d love to hear if you end up trying out our schedule, or if you’ve found anything that works well for you and your family so far. I’m also going to be putting together a list of the activities that we’re going to be trying to keep from getting bored at home very soon, so check back for more here or on Instagram!
