If you follow along on Instagram, you know that we were able to sneak away for a few days to one of our favorite places. We made a last-minute decision to have one final getaway before Bennett comes! (Of course, getting the okay from the doctor at our 34 weeks appointment also gave us a little added motivation.) We packed up the car and took a little drive over to South Walton for a few days of sunshine and sand in Florida. Recapping our stay with a quick 30A travel guide + details on the beach community of Seaside in today’s full post!

Why We Chose South Walton
There are SO many places along the span of South Walton that are ideal to stay because there are so many amazingly beautiful beaches. South Walton includes the popular beach communities of Miramar Beach, Sandestin, Santa Rosa Beach, Grayton Beach, Seaside, Watercolor, Rosemary Beach, Alys Beach + many more.
Every summer we go on our annual family beach trip in Watercolor. It was actually on that trip last July when I realized… that wait, I think I might be pregnant! The Monday right after we got home, I got the official answer that YES, I was very pregnant – 7 weeks pregnant! So not only is this spot on 30A super special to us, it’s one that we are very familiar with and come back to over and over again. Also, considering how far into my third trimester I am, we wanted to go somewhere accessible by car in case we needed to head back home for any reason.
Where We Stayed
When we normally stay in Watercolor, we utilize our bikes so much! Which is normally great, but this expecting mama was NOT about to get on a bike… What’s great about staying right in Seaside is that I didn’t have to bike anywhere – I could literally walk on foot everywhere! In fact, once we parked our car at the cottage rental, we never had to get back in it until we were leaving to go home.
The exact penthouse level of our cottage is called “The Conservatory” and is available to book through the Homeowner’s Collection. We had one bedroom with the most spacious closet, bathroom, and living area. I also loved that the penthouse gave us access to the rooftop – just a gorgeous view at sunset!
During the summer, we always book a large multi-level house that fits the entire family, so this was also the first time that we’ve stayed in a one bedroom rental. (I didn’t even know there were one bedroom rental options in Seaside!) This was so great for us to discover included in the Homeowner’s Collection offerings. Next time, we will have Bennett with us and will likely need a small place to ourselves while we try to stay on a sleep schedule.
When you go to the Homeowner’s Collection site, you can narrow down the rental search by the number of bedrooms!
What To Do in Seaside
Besides heading down to the beach, there’s SO much to do in Seaside, and the best part – it’s all in one spot. Literally you can get to all the below places on foot because they are within walking distance of each other. We have our normal spots that we always head to, but even more places continue to pop up each time we visit.
Bud and Alley’s – head to the upstairs bar early to get a seat for sunset
The Great Southern – get here early for breakfast
Bud and Alley’s Taco Bar – tacos here always gets my vote!
Seaside Food Trucks – a little bit of everything!
5 Daughters Bakery – gourmet donuts (my favorite is the strawberry)
Amavida Coffee – serving up coffee and breakfast pastries and sandwiches
The Cabanas – visiting this outdoor clothing market is a must!
Bump + Baby – finally had a reason to stop in and they have THE cutest stuff!
Duckies – our niece and nephews LOVE this toy store
Ophelia – pick up some extra designer swimwear and coverups
Other spots we always go to in the same little area include the grocery market, book store, and the farmer’s market that comes every Saturday.
More of My Favorite Spots in South Walton
Watercolor – This is where we stay EVERY summer! It’s close enough to bike right over to Seaside.
Alys Beach – you must drive through to see this beautiful development that feels like you’ve stepped into a different world. Eat dinner at Caliza or visit Charlie’s Donuts!
Rosemary Beach – I love this beautiful beach community! We had the most gorgeous dinner with a view outside at The Pearl Hotel.
The Hub in WaterSound – We head here at least once a trip for dinner because of the open air seating and the ability to hit up all of the different food options!
