By now you probably know that I’m usually more of a floral sundress type of girl, but growing up in the Louisiana means I’ll always be a southern prep at heart. (Oversized pearls were my JAM in college. And I would still rock a headband like no other.) That said, I have a real soft spot for gingham, paisley, perfect pleats, and button-down collars. Who doesn’t love a guy in a button-down collar? And who does southern prep better than Southern Marsh?

If you haven’t heard of Southern Marsh yet, it’s a clothing brand based out of Baton Rouge. I’m not joking when I say the warehouse is literally right around the corner from our neighborhood! Southern Marsh was a college town staple from the very beginning. I remember being in college at Louisiana State University when Southern Marsh had just started out as an instantly popular t-shirt line. Fast forward a few years, and they’ve since expanded from t-shirts to full out men’s and women’s collections that still embody the same sense of original southern charm.
I’m especially excited to see the women’s collection really expanding this season. The standout for me is their tailored shorts that are available in a rainbow of colors – I had to get my hands on a pink pair! My two favorite shorts styles are the Hannah and the Brighton. The fit and length are literally perfect – I’m 5’9 for reference. Isn’t it crazy how much a little tailored short can elevate a look from casual to polished?
I paired my Hannah short in Camelia with a paisley button-down from the men’s spring collection in today’s post. I love a men’s oversized shirt especially in the spring and summer when it can be worn over swimsuits. Tie it up as a crop top with a messy pony – so chic. Ps. Someone invite me on your boat, so I can rock a Southern Marsh white button-down as a coverup STAT.
And I know that I got this button-down for myself, but now seeing and wearing one in person, I want to buy a few for Jordan who needs a few new short-sleeve button-downs too. I also grabbed a pair of the Southern Marsh Bahama sandals – and I’d be lying if I didn’t have a similar pair in college. (Can you tell today’s post has got me all nostalgic over here?)
