If you are following @apinchoflovely on Instagram, you probably saw my recent posts from my trip to South Walton Fashion Week! While I had previously heard of the event, this was my first time attending. And while I’m sure you’re thinking – a beach trip in October? – let me tell you, this was a gorgeous, gorgeous time to visit the beach! I’m already mentally planning another October trip next year – beautiful weather, beaches that weren’t over-crowded, no traffic, SEC football – it was just weekend perfection.
SWFW and Hilton Sandestin Beach invited a small group of bloggers to spend the weekend taking in the sites and events, and I was so excited to be a part in the festivities along with Jenn from Haute Off the Rack, Danielle from Just Dandy, Serena from The Spicy Stiletto and Amy from Chicago Streetstyle. We arrived to a lavish room in the Hilton Sandestin (compared to our last hotel room at NYFW, Jenn and I were pretty much living like kings in our Hilton hotel room, haha). On our weekend agenda, there was a lively cocktail party at the Tommy Bahama store and restaurant, brunch by the beach at Vue on 30A, Seaside trunk shows and evening fashion shows of course!
Over the course of the weekend, it became so clear to me why South Walton is such a popular vacation destination – it offers so much more than the beach! The shops in Seaside gave me a glimpse of the great fashion and art community. The food, my goodness the food, was amazing at every stop including our dinner at Seagars in the Hilton. I ate alllll weekend long (yikes!) Oh and I might have had a few cocktails too including a refreshing mojito at The Red Bar, a local dive bar that’s famous for it’s celebrity patrons.
If that’s not enough, I got some serious pampering time at the Serenity by the Sea spa inside of the Sandestin resort. While I really enjoyed all of our activities, it was nice to take a little time out to relax. That and a little beach time was such a nice escape. My full-time job has been keeping me on my toes lately, and I might have needed a little time to decompress.
At night, we saw fashion shows by an excellent group of emerging designers and a sampling of the styles offered at the local boutiques and stores. The whole production was so upbeat and one could really see the support behind the local fashion industry.
I can’t say enough thanks to everyone who made this weekend possible and so much fun. I loved every second of my time in South Walton and hope to get back very soon! If you are planning a weekend beach getaway, Hilton Sandestin Beach is a resort where you have everything you need right around you – beach, restaurants, shopping and the spa. Take a look at South Walton for your next family vacation or girl’s weekend!
