I love getting emails from you guys asking about New Orleans. Not only is it one of my favorite places to visit (only a one hour drive away), but it’s also one of my favorite places to talk about especially when it comes to suggestions or recommendations. So when DSW asked me to share some spring looks inspired by one of my favorite places New Orleans, I immediately started putting together outfits to get you through the French Quarter, beignet snacking, City Park strolling and more!
What I love about New Orleans is that I discover something new every time I go. And while most of my visits involve trying out a new restaurant, a few weeks ago I got to stay at Le Pavillion Hotel for the first time! It’s hard to miss driving down Poydras Street with it’s grandiose covered entrance with marble statues and vine walls, but I had never gotten to step inside. What I discovered was quintessential New Orleans charm and a lot of reasons to stay at Le Pavillion!
Tie sleeve sweaters are this season’s statement sleeve! It’s a fun update to an old classic, and also a trend that anyone can try. I wore this ivory tie sleeve sweater on my recent staycation in New Orleans at the Windsor Court (such a dreamy pink hotel!) I’ve rounded up a few gorgeous tie-sleeve sweater options from Nordstrom in the SHOP widget below!

Brows are indisputably the biggest beauty trend for 2017, and microblading has become THE treatment to try. But, I’ll tell you the reasons why I’m NOT microblading and what I am doing instead in today’s post. I’m including my eyebrow before and after – as well as what I learned at my brow consultation at HiBrow Beauty Bar!
To understand why I’m not considering microblading, we need to go back to my high school days. Those were the days of the skinny brow and my obsessive compulsive relationship with the tweezers. I could have literally titled this post “Lessons In Over-Plucking,” but I digress. When I look in the mirror today, I see sparse, assymmetric brows that are the direct result of my teenage plucking sprees. And compared to photos of my pre-plucked brows, it’s really quite tragic.
So you must be thinking – this is exactly why one should get microblading – to fill those spaces semi-permanently. BUT that’s exactly why I’ve decided against it. I narrowly escaped one eyebrow trend in my lifetime! I am lucky to still have the brows that I have left. So yes, I am being super cautious and overly-protective of my eyebrows during this second wave of brow popularity. And just to be sure, I met with Lauren Prats, the owner of HiBrow New Orleans to get a professional’s perspective on the situation. See what I learned in today’s full post!
I’m so excited to be heading to Hangout Fest for the first time ever this weekend! Festival fashion is always a big trend for spring and summer – also see this post for more festival outfit ideas. So, I wanted to share how I’m wearing the festival inspired boho dress and how you can wear it for weekends even if you aren’t heading out to fest!
Ps. I’ve also mentioned these Sole Society Esme heels on Instagram already, but they are SO comfortable. I’ve been wearing them all over the place. I even wore them all night during a recent wedding with no ouch-moments – highly recommended!
